Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be bet on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through an Internet connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. On this account it is very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with competing players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the 'hold' buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, they should press 'deal', which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are able to select the most beneficial ones every instance.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the 'collect' button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the player a chance to double their winnings, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
