Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be gambled on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using an Internet account. The regulations are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to come away with money. In this respect it's much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A 5 card hand will be electronically 'handed out' on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with 'hold' written on them, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the 'hold' buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the player has chosen which cards she would like to retain, they should press 'deal', which will mean that any new cards are handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are agile enough to select the most profitable game each and every time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the 'collect' button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their winnings, in which case a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
